I’m so, so glad Alex Wong is in the So You Think You Can Dance top 11 this year. This dance made me cry even the second time watching it… Sonya Tayeh working with Alex and Allison is such a recipe for brilliance.
But, what I really want to post about is this open thread on Racialicious about SYTYCD. I’ve been waiting for this blog to make some kind of commentary on the show, because it’s really interesting to how race plays into a reality show with such a uniquely diverse cast. I’m an avid fan, but I will say there are certain things that irk me about the judges’ and voters’ biases regarding gender, race in relation to dance genre, etc. The discussion is definitely worth checking out.
